Modak is an Indian sweet popular in states of Maharashtra, Goa and in the regions of Konkan in India. Its offered to Lord Ganesha during Ganesha Chaturthi every year in India. Lord Ganesha loves modak very much hence he called as Modakpriya too. Modak has lots have name Kudumu, kadubu or kozuhukattai etc. There are 108 names mentioned in Ganesha asthothram

The sweet filling on the inside of a modak consists of freshly grated coconut and jaggery while the outer soft shell is made from rice flour or wheat flour mixed with khava or maida flour.

But here i m presenting another type of modak. Modak as ghujiya with mawa filling.

Now be ready for this.

Mini Modak as Ghujiya With mawa filling. Ingredients : * 1 cup maida (all purpose flour) * 1 cup mawa * 2 tbsp of desi ghee * 2 tbsp sugar powder * 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder * some cutted/chopped dry fruits * desi ghee for frying. Method:

Take a bowl add one cup flour and add 2 tbsp desi ghee. And mix with your fingers properly.

Now take some flour in your hands and press it tightly between your fingers. The dough should hold it’s shape and not crumble apart. If dough crumbles, you need to add little more oil.

Add water little by little and make soft dough. Not too much soft. Keep aside for 10-15 minutes.

Now prepare the filling. Take another bowl add mawa and mash with your fingers, then add chopped dry fruits ( i used only almonds and cashew) you can take any dry fruits as per your choice. Mix it. Now add 2 tbsp of sugar powder and cardamom powder. Mix all properly.

Now take dough and knead for 2-3 minutes. Then make small and equal sized ball with the help of yours palm.

Roll the dough ball a little and then make a flat mini puri well using your fingers, the edges should be thinner then center. Fill with around 1 teaspoons of filling.

Now how to give shape. With the help of thumb and forefingers make pleat on the outer layer of puri. Like picture.

Now bring together all the pleats gently and seal and give a nice shape like flower bud.

Now take a deep pan add desi ghee. Keep on gas for heat the ghee. When the ghee becomes medium hot drop the modak into the ghee and fry on low flame until golden brown colour.

When modak gets golden brown colour take out from the ghee. Dust some sugar powder on it.

Its ready 😊
